Join our amazing OR TEAM at Aurora St. Luke's Medical Center, Wisconsin’s largest hospital with a renowned heart-care team. Your valued contributions in the Operating Room will enhance patient care and outcomes.

Schedule / Hours: Full-time evening shifts with potential for 8 or 10-hour shifts, Monday to Friday, including on-call responsibilities mainly during overnight shifts and occasional weekends. On-call requirements necessitate arriving within 30 minutes.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and efficient operating room environment.
  • Expertly prepare materials and supplies using aseptic techniques for various surgical procedures.
  • Set up the operating room, positioning equipment effectively for each case.
  • Assist in surgeries, providing direct support to surgeons, including instrument passing and maintaining a sterile field.
  • Report any equipment or supply issues promptly to the appropriate staff.
  • Transport patients and supplies as needed while adhering to safety protocols.
  • Keep specialty carts and instruments organized and properly stocked.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of age-specific care requirements for diverse patient populations.

Licensure, Registration, and Certification:

  • Must obtain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 6 months unless exempted by the department leader.

Education:

  • Completion of an accredited program in Surgical Technology.

Experience:

  • No prior experience required.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Knowledge of aseptic techniques and surgical equipment.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Basic computer skills required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to perform in a fast-paced, high-stress environment.
  • Lift and carry weights as specified, and perform a variety of physical tasks including pushing, pulling, standing, and walking throughout the shift.
  • Comply with safety standards, including the use of protective gear.
