Location: Johnson City, TN (Hybrid)
Job Summary:
Seeking an Environmental Scientist I to support field inspections, permitting, and regulatory compliance for Subsurface Sewage Disposal Systems and State Operating Permits. Role includes fieldwork in rural areas, construction sites, and all weather conditions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform field inspections at remote sites; operate a state vehicle.
- Interpret maps, create diagrams, and maintain digital permit files.
- Write and review technical reports and inspection documents.
- Apply environmental rules/regulations to compliance situations.
- Communicate effectively with diverse internal and external stakeholders.
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Physical Sciences, Ecology, Biology, Environmental Health, Engineering, Sustainability, or a related field.
- Valid driver's license.
- Ability to perform fieldwork and frequent day travel.
- Strong customer service, communication, time management, and organization.
- Degrees in engineering, agronomy, biology, or related environmental fields.
- Ability to work independently in varied field conditions.
