Description

JOB SUMMARY:

The NEC Estimator is responsible for drafting and negotiating estimates for the National Estimating Center. The fundamental duties include compiling inspection notes and photographs from the production team, writing and uploading estimates, submitting necessary supporting documents, obtaining final approval, and communicating estimate approvals back to the production team. This position will employ relevant estimating software while collaborating and coordinating with appropriate stakeholders. This is a full-time position with a focus on estimating GC and Mitigation projects valued under $50,000.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Create a written estimate for work in the carrier-preferred estimating software (such as Xactimate or CoreLogic Estimate), or utilizing Jenkins' preferred estimating method if the job is not insurance-related.
  • Communicate with Project Managers as needed to support estimate preparation.
  • Upload inspection documents along with completed estimates, including drawings, pictures, measurements, work authorizations, and any other appropriate documents needed into the appropriate internal and external system(s).
  • Handle full negotiation of project through to estimate approval by insurance carrier or client.
  • Prepare construction contract and coordinate contract ratification
  • Manage the transfer of approved estimates to Project Managers for timely production. Ensure approved scope of work is understood by the local production team at the time of transfer.
  • Interface with clients and insurance representatives as needed throughout the entire estimating and bidding phases.
  • Assist Project Managers in producing change orders and supplements as requested
  • Meet all service standards set forth by Jenkins Restorations, Third Party Administrators (TPAs), insurance carriers, adjusters, and/or other appropriate stakeholders.
  • Utilize current "Quality Control" review software to ensure estimate accuracy per company standards.
  • Submit complete estimates for carrier or client approval within 48 hours of estimate request from the local production teams.
  • Notify appropriate Project Manager within 4 hours of final estimate approval.
  • Create all requested change orders or supplements that are needed by the production team throughout the lifecycle of each job.
Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High School Diploma or GED required. Associates degree (A.A or A.S) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school preferred; Six months to one-year related industry experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with writing estimates in the Verisk and CoreLogic Claims software suites, and/or appropriate 3rd party estimating software.
  • Restoration industry experience preferred
  • Basic math skills (equivalent to those needed at a GED level)
  • Ability to occasionally climb roofs as well as enter confined spaces such as attics or crawl spaces.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills using English language
  • Great attitude, trustworthy, dependable, and a pleasant personality
  • Able to pass a background check, driving record check, and regular employee drug screenings

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Must possess the ability to read and interpret written documents, pictures, drawings, and 3D scans. Demonstrate the ability to write expert estimates, routine reports, correspondence and the ability to speak effectively to various stakeholders and/or employees of the organization.

COMPUTER SKILLS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of industry-related estimating software (including the Verisk and CoreLogic Claims software suites) as well as digital imaging and measurement software (including Matterport, Docusketch, and Hover). They must also be able to "touch type" and have experience using Microsoft Office Suite.

REASONING ABILITY:

This person should possess the ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. They should also have the ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form in the English language.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

The employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. This employee may occasionally be required to climb roofs, which may involve carrying a 28' ladder and setting it up at the roof line of the associated property. This employee may also be required to enter confined spaces such as attics or crawl spaces.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This position will be based in an office environment with occasional visits to residential construction work sites. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Safety equipment is furnished as needed.
