Are you passionate about pursuing a career in the specialty insurance industry? Join Burns & Wilcox for a dynamic 12-week summer internship program designed to enhance your business acumen, communication, and leadership skills through hands-on experience This is a paid internship where you will learn from and network with executive leadership and fellow interns across various departments.

As an Underwriting Intern, you will work 40 hours per week, spending four days in the office and one day remote. Gain valuable insights by joining one of our insurance underwriting teams, which includes commercial, personal, environmental, or professional lines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in underwriting and cross-selling within the department's renewal portfolio and new business submissions.
  • Participate in agent marketing calls to enhance business relationships.
  • Engage in insurance policy renewals and updates.
  • Maintain and update new business and renewals in Microsoft Excel.
  • Identify the most suitable program or market for agency clients' needs.
  • Communicate loss notices and policy changes effectively.
  • Collaborate with senior leaders on special projects and attend client meetings.

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled as an undergraduate at an accredited university, pursuing a degree in Risk Management and Insurance (strongly preferred), Business, Finance, or related fields.
  • Expected graduation in December 2026 or May 2027.
  • Previous internship experience is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is essential.
