Director of Emergency Services

A large tertiary medical center in Kansas City is seeking a Director of Emergency Services to oversee operations of a high-volume ED and affiliated freestanding sites. This leader will be responsible for patient safety, quality, financial performance, and fostering a collaborative culture within the department. The role requires proven ED leadership with a track record of improving performance metrics and outcomes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide oversight for daily ED operations, staffing, and clinical quality
- Lead and mentor leaders and frontline staff across multiple ED sites
- Drive patient experience initiatives and ensure efficient patient flow
- Manage budgets, staffing plans, and department resources
- Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and accreditation standards
- Collaborate with hospital executives and physician leaders on service line growth
- 2+ years of recent acute care Director-level ED leadership required (may consider strong Manager with proven performance at a high-volume ED)
- Bachelor's degree required; BSN preferred
- Master's degree preferred
- Strong financial acumen and ability to drive quality and performance metrics
