Schedule/Hours:
The position is full-time, with evening shifts that may include 8 or 10-hour shifts, Monday through Friday. You will also be on call, primarily overnight, with 5-8 call slots and 1-2 weekend call slots scheduled over an 8-week period. Call assignments may vary depending on staffing needs, and you will be required to arrive within 30 minutes.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and maintain a sterile environment for optimal patient care, including aseptic techniques, surgical area preparation, instrument passing, and maintaining a sterile field.
  • Assist in a variety of surgical procedures, ensuring complete knowledge of available procedures.
  • Set up and maintain the operating room's environmental cleanliness and efficiency, moving equipment and ensuring all supplies are available.
  • Act as a Second Assistant when needed.
  • Report any equipment and supply issues promptly.
  • Transport patients and equipment as necessary.
  • Maintain specialty carts, checking supplies for completeness and functionality.
  • Provide support in patient positioning, ensuring safe transportation techniques are used.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skill in providing age-appropriate care.

Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification must be obtained within 6 months.

Education Required:

  • Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program.

Experience Required:

  • No prior experience required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

  • Familiarity with aseptic techniques and operating room procedures.
  • Knowledge of operating room equipment.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Basic proficiency in computer usage.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and high-stress environment.
  • Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs., with the ability to push/pull with 30 lbs. of force.
  • Ability to handle exposure to various hazards including mechanical and chemical risks.
  • Must possess functional sight and hearing, and be required to wear appropriate protective gear.
  • Able to perform physical tasks such as standing, walking, lifting, and bending frequently during shifts.
