Job Summary: The Mental Health Crisis Responder provides community-based crisis counseling and psycho-educational support to individuals and groups in areas affected by a disaster in Travis County. Working in mobile teams, responders offer brief counseling, psychological first aid, outreach, and emotional support, while connecting those impacted to long-term resources. The role involves collaborating with community organizations, attending local events, and participating in disaster recovery efforts. Responders ensure services are trauma-informed and culturally sensitive, maintain accurate documentation, complete required FEMA trainings, and represent the program with professionalism and compassion.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide face-to-face, community-based crisis counseling to individuals and groups in disaster-affected areas.
- Engage in proactive outreach and community engagement efforts, including attending local events and visiting high-impact areas.
- Deliver Psychological First Aid (PFA) and other evidence-informed practices.
- Offer brief emotional support, psychoeducation, and resource navigation to individuals affected by the disaster.
- Collaborate with local partners and stakeholders, including community leaders, non-profit organizations, and public health agencies.
- Participate in community-wide initiatives and disaster recovery efforts.
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation and reporting using FEMA-compliant data systems.
- Ensure services are trauma-informed, culturally sensitive, and accessible to diverse populations.
- Attend and complete all required FEMA Crisis Counseling Program (CCP) trainings.
- Represent the program and Integral Care in a professional and compassionate manner.
Regular, predictable attendance is considered to be an essential requirement for this position. Other duties may be assigned. May require a flexible work schedule.

Education:
Required:
- Graduated from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree with a major specialization in Human/Behavioral/Social Services or related field. Master's degree preferred.
Required:
- Current and valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
Preferred:
- Crisis/Disaster experience is preferred.
Workdays: Monday - Friday.
Workhours: 9:00AM - 5:00PM (May require flexible schedule).
Salary: $24.18- $25.39 an hour based on education.
