Job Title:Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor

Location: Finger Lakes Area

Employment Type:Per Diem in Newark (Tuesday & Thursday 8 AM - 4 PM)

Job Summary:

As aVocational Rehabilitation Counselor, you will play a key role inassessing, developing, and implementing vocational rehabilitation plansfor individuals recovering from substance use disorders. You will work collaboratively with clinical and residential treatment teams to help clients build the skills necessary for successful employment, education, and career growth.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degreein Education, Vocational Counseling, Human Services, or a related field.

  • Training and/or experience invocational counselingin behavioral health care.

  • QHP (Qualified Health Professional) preferred.

  • Valid NYS Driver’s License.

  • Experience working with individuals in recovery is highly desirable.

Job Requirements:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct vocational assessmentsincluding administering and interpreting academic and vocational tests.

  • Participate ininterdisciplinary team meetingsto develop individualized recovery plans.

  • Facilitatevocational counseling sessionsthrough group and individual interventions.

  • Establish and maintaincollaborative relationshipswith vocational, educational, and employment service providers.

  • Ensure compliance withOASAS regulatory standardsfor documentation and reporting.

  • Track client participation in vocational training, employment, and educational programs, and submitmonthly statisticsto supervisors.

  • Develop and leadvocational skills groupsfocusing on job readiness, resume building, interview skills, and workplace etiquette.

  • Coordinatecommunity service opportunitiesas part of clients' vocational development.

  • Assist incareer planning and job placementby providing coaching and guidance tailored to each client’s strengths and goals.

  • Participate inthe NYESS processand collaborate with workforce development initiatives as needed.

  • Performother dutiesas assigned to support the success of the vocational rehabilitation program.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong interpersonal skillswith the ability to engage and motivate clients from diverse backgrounds.

  • Knowledge of local behavioral health systemsand workforce development resources.

  • Ability to multitaskin a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy in documentation.

  • Proficient in electronic health records (EHR) and Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Crisis intervention skillsand ability to remain calm in high-pressure situations.
