Job Summary

The Clinical Informaticist Specialist is responsible for combining business knowledge, clinical workflow, and data analysis within a continuous clinical, financial and process improvement framework. The Clinical Informaticist Specialist performs a variety of highly complex activities to provide CAMC clinical entities with insights to maintain, improve or transform the clinical and technology framework.
The Clinical Informaticist Specialist proactively leads the analysis of clinical, business, and user needs, documenting clinical requirements, and translates into proper system requirements and design specifications. Analyzes and documents clinical processes and metrics, and identifies improvement opportunities. Re-engineering processes to optimize the EHR and delivers greater effectiveness and efficiency. Identifies and documents how applications and systems interact to support clinical processes. Assess and project the impact of system changes for Clinical Business Owners. Guides the customer in implementation best practices and manage customer expectations to ensure their success in the project. Mentor, guide teams and consultants as needed. Assists with people development activities (such as onboarding, interviewing, and training). Liaison with other internal groups such as development staff and support teams. Identify improvements to Clinical Business Owners processes and work with team to create internal efficiencies

Demonstrates a basic understanding and adheres to departmental processes for change control. Maintains a level of cybersecurity knowledge sufficient to securely accomplish their job duties.

Responsibilities

1. Possess an in depth understanding of the inpatient clinical care setting and/or healthcare business applications associated workflows.
2. Assists users and IT personnel with training and development of user documentation.
3. Develops system design, including functional specifications, and implements strategies based upon the analysis of specific operational needs.
4. Evaluates, designs, builds, tests, and implements custom or vendor supplied software and develops system-wide reports to support information management needs.
5. Maintains production systems to ensure reliable performance.
6. Prepares clinical scenarios for testing plans.
7. Composes and edits curriculum for all roles that require training and create job aids and other training materials. Must possess solid interpersonal skills.
8. Provides day-to-day operations support to customers as required.
9. Coordinates efforts between stakeholders from multiple areas in order to gather requirements, develop technical specifications, and test enhancements and other changes to these systems.
10. Identifies data integrity issues and analyzes data and process flows for process improvement opportunities.
11. Performs data analysis in order to extract requirements, identify data inaccuracies, and ensure accurate processing and reporting.
12. Identifies policies and requirements that drive a specific solution.
13. Works effectively on project teams and meets deadlines in accordance to project manager's expectations.
14. Works with stakeholders to build, test and maintain integration points with multiple vendor solutions
15. Utilizes detailed instructions to perform routine support and implementation work.
16. Utilizes appropriate and timely communication skills within assigned team.
17. Completed certification/accreditation for specific vendor and/or governing body related to specific applications/tools for which responsibility is held for support.
18. Communicates complex technology systems and issues in terms easily understood
19. Engages in collaborative and transparent problem solving while managing expectations
20. Participates in contract review process, which will include initial vendor contact and contract review prior to delivering to management for further review, negotiation, and execution.
21. On call as required.
22. Flexible hours when needed.
23. All other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

The employee must possess/obtain (by the end of the orientation period) and demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide developmentally appropriate assessment, treatment or care as defined by the department's identified patient ages. Specifically the employee must be able to demonstrate competency in: 1) ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of patient needs; 2) knowledge of growth and development; and 3) understanding of the range of treatment needed by the patients.

Education
• Bachelor's Degree (Required) Education: Bachelor's degree in information technology or related clinical field.Experience: 5 - 7 years of related information technology or clinical technology experience. Preferred minimum of 3 years clinical experience and experience with clinical workflow and process improvement. Cerner Experience Required
