IT Application Solutions Architect Sr. (Operations Portfolio - Rail/Transportation)

Overview:
We are seeking a senior-level IT Application Solutions Architect with deep expertise in rail or transportation operations to shape and drive the architecture for our operational technology portfolio. This is not a traditional systems architect role-it requires a portfolio-level thinker with the ability to evolve into an Enterprise Architect in the operations space. The ideal candidate has extensive hands-on solutioning experience across complex business systems in transportation and is comfortable guiding strategy, governance, and architecture patterns at scale.

Specialized Skillset:
  • Transportation Domain Expertise: Significant experience architecting solutions in rail or travel operations-must understand the breadth and complexity of operational portfolios in this domain.
  • End-to-End IT Exposure: Strong background spanning application development, technology platforms, and data architecture.
  • Strategic Leadership: Proven ability to engage with senior IT leadership to shape portfolio strategy and roadmap.
  • Architecture Governance: Experience ensuring architectural compliance, consistency, and oversight across multiple initiatives.
  • Business Architecture & Application Depth: Extensive experience aligning business processes with technical solutions at the portfolio level.
  • Architectural Patterns: Hands-on experience with multiple architecture approaches, including event-driven architecture and other modern integration methods.
Career Path Alignment: This role is designed for an architect who can quickly progress into a portfolio-level Enterprise Architect role within Operations-leading strategy and solution alignment across the full spectrum of rail/travel operational systems.

***Lumen and / or its clients will not provide equipment (Laptop, monitor, etc.) to the selected contractor. The contractor must have their own equipment. Access to a virtual desktop set up (software) will be provided by Lumen's client, allowing the user access to the required systems and technology.***
