Lead Data Solutions Engineer

We are looking for Data Engineers who are excited about integrating data with cutting-edge technologies. As a Data Engineer at Capital One, you will play a crucial role in transforming our data landscape and driving impactful change.

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate closely with Agile teams to design, develop, test, and implement comprehensive technical solutions using a variety of development tools and technologies.

• Work alongside a team of experts in machine learning, distributed microservices, and full-stack systems development.

• Leverage programming languages such as Java, Scala, Python, as well as Open Source RDBMS and NoSQL databases, coupled with cloud-based data warehousing services like Redshift and Snowflake.

• Stay ahead of technology trends by exploring and adopting new technologies, actively participating in tech communities, and mentoring fellow engineers.

• Partner with digital product managers to deliver robust solutions that enhance financial empowerment for millions of Americans.

• Conduct thorough unit testing and code reviews to ensure high-quality, efficient, and well-optimized code.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree.

• A minimum of 3 years of application development experience (excluding internships).

• At least 1 year of experience with big data technologies.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience in application development using Python, SQL, Scala, or Java.

• 2+ years of experience with public cloud platforms (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud).

• 3+ years of experience with distributed data/computing tools (such as MapReduce, Hadoop, Hive, EMR, Kafka, Spark, Gurobi, or MySQL).

• 2+ years of experience in real-time data and streaming applications.

• 2+ years of experience with NoSQL databases (like MongoDB, Cassandra).

• 2+ years of experience in data warehousing solutions (Redshift or Snowflake).

• 3+ years of UNIX/Linux experience, including basic commands and shell scripting.

• 2+ years of experience practicing Agile engineering methodologies.

The expected salary range for this role is as follows:

• McLean, VA: $158,600 - $181,000

• Plano, TX: $144,200 - $164,600

This salary information pertains specifically to candidates applying for positions in these locations. Actual salary offers may vary and will be confirmed in the offer letter.

In addition, this role is eligible for performance-based incentives, which may include cash bonuses and/or long-term incentives.
