My client is looking for a Data Center Engineer to join their Houston, TX team. In this role, you will take care of the data center lab and make sure everything runs smoothly day to day. You will set up, monitor, and maintain servers, network equipment, and other hardware, and step in to troubleshoot and fix issues when something isn't working correctly. Part of the job is regularly checking systems to prevent outages and performance problems before they happen. You'll work closely with engineers and other teams to support testing and critical projects, help keep systems stable and reliable, and provide updates and report issues to the Lab Manager.

This role helps keep the data center running smoothly by setting up, maintaining, and fixing servers, network equipment, and facility systems. The individual troubleshoots hardware issues, assists with system and network updates, works with vendors on repairs, and responds to alerts to keep systems up and running. They also keep basic documentation and equipment records to support daily operations and compliance.

Required Skills & Experience
• 2-5+ years of experience in data center operations or infrastructure engineering
• Strong understanding of server hardware, cabling standards, and rack/stack procedures.
• Experience with network fundamentals (TCP/IP, VLANs, routing & switching)
Knowledge of monitoring tools and ticketing systems.

Nice to Have Skills & Experience
• Experience with virtualization platforms (VMware, KVM, Hyper-V).
• Knowledge of Linux/Windows system administration.
• Familiarity with Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) tools.
• Experience in cloud or hybrid environments.
Certifications: CompTIA Server+, Network+, CCNA, or equivalent.
