Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled Senior Network Security Specialist to join our team. This role offers a flexible working arrangement with the option to work remotely or in a hybrid format while requiring onsite presence in San Francisco, CA, once a week.

Position Details:

  • Title: Senior Network Security Specialist
  • Location: Remote/Hybrid, SFO, CA - PST (onsite once a week)
  • Duration: Permanent Job
  • Pay Rate: Competitive hourly rate on W2/C2C

Key Responsibilities:

Network Engineering:

  • Design and propose improvements for network infrastructure.
  • Oversee all network hardware and software components.
  • Configure and manage routers, switches, firewalls, and network devices.
  • Manage remote access solutions including VDI/VDA, VPN, and RDP.
  • Conduct oversight of data center environment, including racks, power, and cabling.
  • Automate network processes and thoroughly document procedures.
  • Engage in network design, capacity planning, and performance monitoring.
  • Lead network upgrades, improvements, and necessary repairs.
  • Manage vendor relationships and service level agreements.
  • Ensure connectivity across all systems and with external partners.
  • Maintain network asset management and accurate inventory documentation.

Security Focus:

  • Administer policies for security appliances, including firewalls, gateways, and sensors.
  • Execute and uphold network security processes and reporting standards.
  • Enhance security solutions encompassing firewalls, anti-virus, IDS/IPS, and more.
  • Participate in vulnerability assessments, penetration tests, and security audits.
  • Stay informed about new security solutions, threats, and industry best practices.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining security policies and standards.
  • Collaborate with lead security analysts and compliance teams on investigations and audits.

Core Competencies:

  • Deep understanding of networking topologies and physical installation.
  • Extensive experience with MS Windows technology and the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong knowledge of Active Directory, group policies, and systems administration.
  • Experience with Cisco networking and Next Gen Firewall technologies is essential.
  • Familiarity with IDS/IPS, SIEM, and monitoring tools.
  • Understanding of ITIL-based processes (Incident, Service, Problem, Change, Release Management).
  • Competence in troubleshooting hardware/software and managing backup processes.
  • Solid understanding of IP, TCP/IP, and other networking protocols.
  • Proven experience managing technology vendors and escalation processes.
  • Exceptional communication skills in customer service, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team setting.
  • Proven track record of meeting project deadlines.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field preferred, or 5+ years of equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years in network support and administration roles required.
  • Proficient experience with Cisco networking is mandatory.
  • Relevant Microsoft and Cisco certifications are advantageous.
  • Security certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CISSP, CISM, CISA, GIAC, etc., are preferred.
  • Experience within healthcare organizations is a plus.

  • Must be able to operate standard office equipment and work on a computer for extended periods.
  • Willingness to occasionally work weekends and/or evenings as necessary.
