The Warehouse Assistant – Forklift is responsible for supporting daily warehouse operations, including material handling, inventory movement, and maintaining a clean and organized work environment. This role operates forklifts and other equipment to transport materials efficiently while adhering to safety, 5S, and lean manufacturing principles.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain 5S (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain) practices throughout warehouse and production areas. Transport materials between buildings and departments using forklifts, trucks, and other material handling equipment. Support daily housekeeping, organization, and safety initiatives to promote an efficient work environment. Assist with inventory movement, labeling, staging, and organization of materials. Collaborate with operations and logistics teams to identify and eliminate waste in material flow. Participate in continuous improvement activities and support lean manufacturing initiatives. Perform general warehouse duties and additional tasks as assigned.
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or GED. Valid forklift certification and hands-on experience operating forklifts. Strong understanding of 5S principles and workplace organization. Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and stand or walk for extended periods. Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining safety standards. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team. Effective communication and time management skills.
Preferred Qualifications (if any)
Previous experience in a warehouse or manufacturing environment. Experience supporting lean, 5S, or continuous improvement programs. Familiarity with basic inventory systems or ERP tools.
Certifications (if any)
Valid forklift certification (required). Additional material handling or safety certifications are a plus.
