Key Responsibilities:- Design and maintain cutting-edge real-time algorithms and systems for vehicle tracking, ETA predictions, and disruption detection.
- Contribute to innovative real-time data pipelines, APIs, and cloud services that power our customers' products.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to prototype solutions, validate approaches, and deliver impactful, incremental value.
- Simplify complex challenges into manageable tasks to accelerate progress.
- Engage openly in sharing designs and technical decisions, considering trade-offs and ensuring team alignment.
- Employ modern engineering practices to create robust, maintainable, and scalable code.
- Elevate team dynamics through code reviews, knowledge sharing, and pair programming.
- Take full ownership of assignments and team results, fostering a culture of continuous reflection and improvement.
- 3+ years of experience in software engineering, with a focus on data-intensive or real-time systems.
- Proficient in Java and familiar with cloud-native backend services (preferably AWS).
- Documented experience in taking algorithms from conception to production, delivering systems with real-world impact.
- Thorough understanding of real-time data processing (e.g., streaming, event-driven, predictive systems).
- Skilled in API development and usage; knowledgeable in SQL.
- Bonus: Familiarity with technologies like Apache Kafka, Python, JavaScript/Vue.js, and AWS Step Functions.
- A passion for applying predictive algorithms to tackle real-world challenges in the transit sector.
- A growth mindset, adaptable to evolving technical landscapes.
- Team-oriented, collaborative, and receptive to feedback in a supportive environment.
Compensation & Benefits: According to pay transparency laws, the expected salary ranges are as follows: US range: $130,000 - $210,000 USD; Canadian range: $140,000 - $200,000 CAD. Our compensation package includes equity options, comprehensive benefits, retirement matching, and a wellness stipend, among other perks designed to support a fulfilling career.
As a fully distributed team, we emphasize occasional travel for team offsites to build relationships. Attendance is valued but we respect personal circumstances.
