Schedule/Hours: Full-time, evening shift of 8 or 10 hours, Monday to Friday with call duties primarily overnight. Expect about 5-8 call slots and 1-2 weekends of call within an 8-week scheduling window. On-call requires arrival within 30 minutes.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Ensure a clean, safe, and effective operating environment while utilizing aseptic surgical techniques.
  • Participate in a variety of procedures and maintain knowledge of them.
  • Manage room setups, operating equipment, and assist in maintaining a sterile environment.
  • Function as a Second Assistant as necessary.
  • Address supply and equipment concerns effectively.
  • Transport patients and equipment efficiently.
  • Maintain specialty carts, ensuring preparedness and sterility.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skills to assess patient needs across different age groups.

Licensure, Registration, and Certification Required:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association required within 6 months.

Education Required:

  • Completion of an accredited or approved Surgical Technology program.

Experience Required:

  • No prior experience necessary.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

  • Knowledge of aseptic surgical techniques and operating room equipment.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Basic computer proficiency.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • Ability to thrive in a high-stress, fast-paced environment.
  • Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs, lifting 20 lbs overhead, and carrying up to 40 lbs.
  • Required to push/pull with 30 lbs of force and perform sliding transfers of up to 150 lbs.
  • Exposure to mechanical, electrical, chemical, and biological hazards.
  • Must wear PPE and have functional sight and hearing.
  • Active engagement in the physical demands of the job, including frequent standing, walking, lifting, bending, and reaching.
