Job Description

Department: Host/Hostess/Cashier
Reports To: IHOP General Manager

Job Summary

Greet and seat guests promptly, cheerfully and courteously. Take guest remittance as required and make every effort to ensure the quality of the guest's dining experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Develop and maintain professional functional working relations with IHOP Team Members and guests.
Greet guests as they enter the restaurant (within 30 seconds) and seat them as soon as a table is available.
Rotate station seating to ensure the quality of guest service.
May handle guest complaints, inquire about dining experience, thank guests and invite them to return.
Handle all cash in accurate and responsible manner.
Take register readings, make interim cash reports, and count cash registers receipts.
Answer the telephone, take messages, and take and complete all To Go orders.
Maintain guest checks in numerical order.
Maintain a waiting list as necessary.
Check restrooms every 30 minutes to ensure proper stock levels and cleanliness.
Clear, clean and reset tables and clean chairs, booths and floors after guests leave.
Comply with IHOP and Liberty uniform and appearance standards.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Teamwork and Communication

Works effectively with others (individuals and departments) in a positive, supportive and cooperative manner.

Cleanliness

Maintains a high standard of cleanliness.
Perform cleaning duties according to posted cleaning charts.

Occupational Health & Safety

Performs all duties in a safe and responsible manner to assure workers, guests, suppliers/contractors and the environment are not at risk. Complies with all company safety policies, procedures and instructions.

Requirements
  • Physically capable of standing for long hours.
  • Ability to read, write and speak English language.
  • Must be willing to cover shifts when needed.
  • Must be willing to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Must pass background check.
