VACANCY

As a Community Services Specialist II - Site Manager (Senior Programs), you will help ensure our senior community has access to quality, engaging, and supportive programs. Under direct supervision of the Community Services Specialist III and lead supervision of the Recreation Coordinator, the CSSII - Site Manager (Senior Programs) oversees daily operations of an Elderly Congregate Meal Program to ensure programmatic, contractual, grant, and City goals and deadlines are met while responding to community needs. The Site Manager also initiates and facilitates daily activities that encourage participation and help create a warm and welcoming environment for all program participants.
The Community Services Department has one position available.
This position is classified as an at-will, hourly/part-time, intermittent position with no benefits provided. Hourly, intermittent/part-time positions average 20 hours per week and no more than 1,000 hours in a twelve (12) month period.
Work Hours
Work hours will be approximately 15-20 hours per week. Hours will vary but will typically be Monday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. In addition, some evening and weekend assignments may be required, including mandatory support for City special events such as the Haunted House, Holiday at the Plaza, and Egg Hunt.

In addition, you will need any combination equivalent to experience and training that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. A typical way to obtain the knowledge, skills, and abilities would be:
Education and Experience:
- High school graduate or GED equivalency required. College students in fields of gerontology, hospitality or other related field are encouraged to apply.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- One (1) year of paid work experience in the food service field. Experience working with the elderly population in a congregate meal setting is highly desired.
- Demonstrated ability to treat Clients and Clients' family members with respect and dignity.
- Must be able to speak, read, and write fluently in English.
Certificates/Licenses:
- Must possess and maintain a valid California Class "C" driver's license with a good driving record
- Must obtain Serv-Safe California Food Handler Certificate within the first 5 days of employment.
- Certification as a Food Protection Manager by the National Restaurant Association ServSafe®, or other recognized organization within six (6) months of being hired.
- Must obtain CPR/First Aid Certification within 90 days of employment

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Manage day to day operations of an Elderly Congregate Meal program.
- Provide direct support to site-based program staff and volunteers to ensure programmatic, contractual, grant, and City goals and deadlines are met.
- Initiate and facilitate daily activities that encourage engagement and help create a warm and welcoming environment for all participants.
- Support ongoing trainings on safety food practices for kitchen staff and volunteers.
- Maintain ongoing communication with DASS dietitian and contracted caterer.
- Review, file and submit monthly reports (temperature; quality assurance; client feedback, etc.).
- Attend and participate in Senior Advisory Council, Quality Assurance, and other related meetings and training sessions that directly affect the development, planning, coordination and implementation of congregate meal programs.
- Attend the Los Angeles County Community and Senior Service meetings as requested.
- Distribute informational and promotional materials and support outreach efforts that will increase participation in programs for the elderly.
- Act as a liaison between congregate meal program staff, volunteers, community members, collaborative partners and other city personnel.
- Support activity/curriculum development and implementation, participant recruitment, retention and assessing needs at respective site.
- Work collaboratively to support the development of new programs and best practices at respective congregate meal location.
- Support the development and implementation of staff trainings.
- Meet deadlines while maintaining high quality of work.
- Ensure established emergency and safety procedures are followed at all times.
- Accurately document all incidents/accidents and ensure proper communication to all parties as appropriate.
- Communicate in a positive and effective manner with all participants, City officials, community members, co-workers and volunteers.
- Maintain professional demeanor at all times to ensure the City's image and mission statement are upheld.
- Assist in implementation of Department events, including required support during special events such as the Haunted House, Holiday at the Plaza, and Egg Hunt.
