Global Category Manager

Amazon Leo is Amazon's low Earth orbit satellite broadband network. Key job responsibilities

The ideal candidate will have a successful track record developing and executing sourcing strategies, negotiating master agreements and statements of work, and managing supplier performance. Experience working in new and ambiguous environments while solving complex problems with a broad range of cross functional stakeholders will be an advantage.

A day in the life

Job Responsibilities Include:

• \tHarnessing experience is preferred.

• \tDrive hardware delivery through the product life cycle from requirements development to on-dock (on time at the right quality and cost)

• \tAnalyze industry trends and evolving technology to proactively identify and execute projects/opportunities to reduce cost, minimize risk, protect continuity of supply, and exploit industry developments that benefit Amazon's customers

• \tWork with a range of stakeholders including business leaders, engineering leaders, legal, program management, and supply chain to negotiate a variety of agreements and contracts including term sheets, MOUs, NDAs, SOWs, development agreements, component purchase agreements and others

• \tInfluence suppliers' manufacturing processes, technology decisions, and policies in ways that are mutually beneficial and sustainable for both organizations

• \tPrioritize projects and activities to deliver maximum cost reductions and reliable supply

• \tManage cross-functional projects against plans and objectives to meet commitments and goals

• \tDrive financial modeling of large and complex deals

• \tEvaluate and monitor critical supplier performance, including financial health, quality, on-time delivery, and cost

• \tEnsure orders are released and on schedule to meet needs of the production system

• \tMentor junior sourcing employees on contract negotiation and vendor management

• \tEffectively lead cross-functional meetings with clear document writing, agenda creation, note capture and follow-up activity coordination

• \tProactively identify and mitigate risks to the supply chain

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 2+ years of program, project or product management, or leading product implementation experience

- 6+ years of related industry experience

- 8+ years of data analysis using tools such as Excel, Pivot Tables, SQL, Tableau, or equivalent experience

- 8+ years of high volume manufacturing operations or sourcing environments experience

- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or a related field

- Experience with Continuous Improvement and Six Sigma methodologies

- Experience in global supply chain management, managing cross-functional teams in a fast-paced consumer electronics product company

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Master's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Computer Science, or a related field

- Experience in negotiations with global suppliers with a proven track record in cost reduction

- Experience in procurement practices working with engineering, supply chain and Tier 1 OEM partners

- Experience practicing best-in-class procurement processes (category management, benchmarking, should-cost models, RFX, reverse auction, contracting, or equivalent)

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $133,200/year in our lowest geographic market up to $220,200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
