The Food Service Driver will assist in packaging of food and supplies for delivery to meal sites safely. S/he will ensure that the food is delivered in safe and sanitary condition to the food distribution location. Additionally, the Food Service Driver will be responsible to make sure that delivery of food is maintained at correct temperatures required by the County health department, both on departure from the kitchen as well as upon arrival to delivery location.

Qualifications:

• Must have valid CA driver's license, proof of auto insurance and clean driving record
• 1 year customer service skills and experience preferred
• Prior experience delivering or driving preferred
• Able to lift 40 pounds
• Must be able to bend, reach, stoop, push, and pull, twist and grip items with or without assistance
• Must be able to stand for extended period
• Experience in high volume food production and distribution operations highly desired
• Los Angeles County Food Handler Certification required within 14 days of hire
• Ability to follow instructions and effectively use equipment and vehicles
• Ability to communicate with a variety of people, especially the senior population
• Culturally sensitive and able to collaborate with a multicultural client/customer population
• Ability to work in a non-judgmental manner
• Able to work as part of a team
• Must pass a criminal background check (Live Scan fingerprinting and drug screen) prior to beginning employment

Responsibilities/Essential Functions:

• Responsible for maintaining food safety and applying sanitation principles
• Package individual and bulk foods in delivery carriers and load items into delivery vehicle shelving
• Take and record food temperatures prior to loading vehicle and again upon delivery of food to destination
• Deliver food to location, and place food into the steam tables or refrigeration for meal service as needed
• Pick up equipment such as up dirty dishes/containers from food service locations and return them to kitchen for cleaning/sanitizing
• Assist meal service coordinator with site cleanup; which may include garbage disposal, sanitizing surfaces etc.
• Maintains interior and exterior of delivery vehicle to ensure a clean and sanitary condition
• Responsible for the timely and accurate completion of daily delivery logs
• Daily inspection of vehicle prior to deliveries and completing daily mileage log
• Prepare supplies as needed for delivery
• Return vehicle to final home location for the evening
• Other duties as assigned
