Description

Job Functions: Acts as a liaison between customers, project managers, freight carriers and shipping department to ensure all logistical specifications are understood and met. Maintains contractual agreements with common small parcel, LTL and full truckload carriers and third- party logistic brokers. Prepares required documentation for international shipments, checking import and/or export documentation to adhere to regulations. Assists wave planning, allocating and planning for picking operation. Works closely with customer service for all order management functions.

Accountabilities:
  • Support business needs to ensure inventory available is released for pick in the warehouse
  • Support Customer Service by providing logistics information
  • Support Shipping team with logistic documentation
Other Job Duties:
  • Communicate with international customer service representatives and customs regarding international shipments. Coordinate with freight forwarders and interline carriers for freight pickup.
  • Prepare documentation for contracts, transactions, or regulatory compliance.
  • Effectively write routine reports and correspondence to customers, engineers, and shipping representatives.
  • Analyzes data or reporting to make good business decisions.
  • Communicates with shipping brokers, customer representatives and other suppliers as necessary.
  • Coordinate shipping activities with external parties.
  • Calculate shipping costs.
  • Respond to customer problems or complaints.
  • Ascertains the most cost-effective methods of preparation of freight for shipment, rates to be applied and transportation to be used.
  • Reconciliation of freight spend, and freight audit functions.
  • Maintains records as required for compliance to export regulations.
  • Analyze shipping information to make routing decisions.
  • All other duties as assigned.
Customer and Personal Service - Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.

  • Must be able to organize, plan, and prioritize workload daily.
  • Expertise in routing and routes domestic and international, including customs regulations, tariffs, taxes, and fees.
  • In-depth understanding of the export declaration process.
  • Strong troubleshooter with skills to work through and resolve problems and/or conflicts, recommending solutions and following through to completion.
  • Ability to maintain data in information systems or databases.
  • Experience in administrating contracts with service providers.
  • Understanding and implementation of transportation management system (TMS).
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
Education and/or Experience:

High School Diploma plus minimum of three years prior experience with logistics in distribution and manufacturing; or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Experience with wave planning, TMS, and international shipments.

Computer Skills:

Word, Excel, Outlook, TMS, Ability to understand ERP systems.

Language Skills:

Must be able to speak, read, and write English.
