Position Overview

We are excited to announce an immediate opening for a Permanent Full-Time Experienced Diesel Mechanic to join our Truck Fleet team at Ryder. This is a fantastic opportunity in Abilene, Texas, that you won't want to miss

  • Hourly Pay: $22.85 per hour
  • Certification Bonus: Receive $100 for each New ASE Certification Obtained, up to $700
  • Quarterly Bonus: Potential to earn up to $500 every quarter
  • Work Schedule: Tuesday - Saturday
  • Shift Hours: Tuesday - Friday 8:00 am - 4:30 pm, Saturday 6:00 am - 2:30 pm

As an Experienced Diesel Mechanic, you will be responsible for:

  • Performing vehicle maintenance and repair duties
  • Conducting standard vehicle maintenance and inspections
  • Diagnosing mechanical and electronic issues using diagnostic tools
  • Identifying and addressing root causes of malfunctions
  • Interacting with customers/drivers to understand and resolve issues
  • Adhering to all safety and compliance guidelines

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Technical certification or vocational training preferred
  • Basic tools required
  • Experience with automotive diesel engines and preventative maintenance
  • Two years or more of training and work experience preferred
  • Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) CLASS A preferred
  • This position requires the ability to drive Ryder vehicles, so obtaining a CDL within six months of hire is necessary.
  • Ability to pass a drug test, DOT physical, road test, and background check including previous employers' drug/alcohol history for the last three years.
