Maintains and monitors a safe exercise setting, while providing individual attention to the total wellness of members and clients.
WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS
- Ability to hear, talk, stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; taste and smell.
- Ability to use hands to finger, handle, and feels
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 100 pounds
- May be exposed to varied temperatures, chemicals, moving mechanical parts and electrical machines.
- Ability to communicate and motivate members/clients
- CPR and First Aid certified.
- Must obtain YMCA Personal Trainer Certification within 1 one of employment or hold a current nationally recognized Personal Training Certification.
- Assists members on the proper use of exercise equipment.
- Gives sound health and fitness training and advice to members/clients.
- Attends staff meeting and trainings as scheduled.
- Offers and provides spotting to members.
- Provides general maintenance and organization to exercise area and equipment.
- Provides a safe, clean area for members to exercise.
- Maintains current CPR and First Aid certifications.
- Stays current with the latest safety information and research in the fitness industry.
- Notified supervisor of any damaged equipment or shortages.
- Wears appropriate exercise attire and footwear.
- Arrives 5-minues prior to appointment start.
- Motivates and encourages participants with positive feedback.
- Executes Branch emergency plan as necessary.
- Other duties as assigned.
