Our work environment is dynamic and demanding, designed for those who thrive under pressure and with high-caliber colleagues. While many roles at Coinbase offer remote flexibility, in-person collaboration is essential, with team and company-wide offsites scheduled multiple times a year.

The Identity team is responsible for managing everything related to user identities at Coinbase, including login processes, security measures, and multi-factor authentication. The Accounts team within Identity is tasked with developing platform components and services that will unify account management capabilities across all our products. This is a significant challenge as we transition from a single-user approach to accommodating multi-user and organizational setups.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Architecting, building, and delivering platform services for seamless multi-entity account and identity management.
• Leading the transformation from disparate user and organization models to a unified account framework, defining APIs, data models, and best practices to be adopted across Coinbase.
• Owning the design and reliability of crucial backend systems serving millions of customers.
• Promoting technical excellence through code and design reviews while shaping the team's technical culture.
• Mentoring and inspiring engineers, enhancing development velocity and platform reliability.
• Collaborating with product, infrastructure, site reliability engineering (SRE), and compliance teams to deliver secure and extensible solutions.
• Identifying opportunities for platform enhancement, refactoring old components, and bolstering security and compliance.
• Delivering solutions that streamline the integration of new entity types to ensure Coinbase's future growth.

What we seek in you:

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in software engineering.
• Proven experience designing, building, and scaling production services, with knowledge of service-oriented architecture.
• Ability to write high-quality, well-tested code that addresses customer needs.
• A passion for creating an open financial system that bridges the world.

Desirable qualifications:

• Experience in a rapidly growing company, transitioning from startup to mid-size.
• Knowledge of blockchain technologies, such as Bitcoin and Ethereum.
• Experience in breaking down large monolithic systems into microservices.
• Familiarity with programming languages and frameworks like Golang, Ruby, Docker, Sinatra, Rails, Postgres, MongoDB, or Redshift.
• Background in building financial systems that require high reliability and security.
• Crypto-related experience, including interacting with Ethereum addresses, using ENS, and engaging with dApps or blockchain services.

Compensation Transparency:

The target annual salary for this position is between $186,065 and $218,900, depending on your location. Coinbase offers additional benefits, including bonuses, equity, and comprehensive health coverage.
