Requirements:
  • Associates Degree
  • Sixty semester hours of college credit
  • Successful completion of the ParaPro Assessment (to be facilitated by the CPCSC)
General Purpose:

The Paraprofessional is to assist the teacher with the implementation of Individual Education Programs (IEPs) of students identified with disabilities. The role of the Paraprofessional is to work in a supportive capacity as part of a team to meet the needs of each student. Paraprofessional assistance may be provided across multiple settings such as special education classrooms, general education classrooms, and other designated learning environments within the school or community. In addition, Paraprofessionals assist with classroom procedures that may include but are not limited to; educational support, mobility support, vocational support, behavior support, assistance with functional skills, and physical or occupational therapy support.

Responsibilities:
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of children at all times
  • Support play-based learning in the preschool environments
  • Maintain student and staff confidentiality
  • Be professional when dealing with students, staff, and parents
  • Aid in the development and maintenance of a positive work environment
  • Be on time and maintain good attendance, report to the requested area or work site
  • Attend in-services upon notification, when provided during a school day
  • Follows team prescribed procedures for academic, social, communication and behavioral intervention plans.
  • May support activities of daily living including, toileting, feeding and diapering.
  • Maintain confidentiality of information about students and staff.
  • Participate in regularly scheduled professional development opportunities
  • Maintain the high level of ethical behavior that is expected of all CPCSC staff.
  • Performs related duties as required.
