Process Engineer, Power Conversion System

The Process Engineer serves as the technical subject matter expert for assigned processes within the Power Conversion System line - including robotic pick-and-place, automated fastening, TIM/acrylic dispense, and end-of-line test operations (Leak/HiPot). This role is responsible for defining, improving, and sustaining manufacturing processes that directly impact throughput, cost, and quality for Tesla's next-generation battery pack production.
You'll work cross-functionally with Equipment, Controls, and Quality teams to ensure stable process capability, rapid issue resolution, and continuous improvement of Power Conversion System assembly operations.What You'll Do
- Develop deep technical expertise inPower Conversion Systemprocess areas such as robotic handling, adhesive dispense, and test/inspection systems
- Ensure each process consistently meets Safety, Quality, and Performance requirements
- Monitor and analyze process KPIs (Cycle Time, FPY, OEE, Scrap, and Downtime)
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on Safety, Quality, Throughput, and Cost
- Define, document, and track critical process parameters using Statistical Process Control (SPC)
- Maintain and enhance Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) systems to ensure long-term equipment reliability
- Establish, maintain, and enforce Process Control Plans aligned with PFMEA and Control Strategy
- Support launch of new products, model variants, or materials - collaborating closely with Design, NPI, and Manufacturing Engineering
- Own and deliver process improvement projects, including concept development, cost justification, and validation
- Manage procurement, budgets, and schedules for process changes, upgrades, or line retools
What You'll Bring
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing/Industrial, or Chemical Engineering, or equivalent experience
- Strong ability to apply fundamental engineering principles to develop innovative solutions for manufacturing challenges
- Proven experience providing clear technical guidance to cross-functional teams and external partners
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with minimal supervision
- Demonstrated project management skills, including cross-functional team leadership
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with internal teams and vendors
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with AutoCAD, CATIA, or SolidWorks preferred
- Strong people management and team leadership abilities
