Job Summary and Qualifications

The Neonatal Program Manager will be responsible for overseeing performance improvement activities, conducting chart reviews, identifying gaps, implementing changes, and delivering nursing education. You will also maintain the integrity of our neonatal registry, ensure confidentiality, and serve as the key contact for our Neonatal Level III program. This role is predominantly managerial and administrative, with clinical responsibilities adjusted as needed.

  • Demonstrate adherence to national patient safety initiatives through strict compliance with safety protocols.
  • Develop and oversee critical care training curriculum for neonatal nurses, including skills maintenance and initial training.
  • Provide educational classes and hands-on skills labs focused on high-risk newborn physiology and care management.
  • Work collaboratively with the Perinatal Quality Manager to conduct annual simulation drills for staff preparedness.
  • Coordinate care for NICU patients with high-risk conditions, including nurse selection, huddles, debriefings, and follow-up education based on critical care events.
  • Conduct quarterly assessments to ensure compliance with Level III designation standards, including staffing and education evaluations.
  • Co-lead Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement initiatives, assisting outlying facilities with educational support as necessary.
  • Maintain compliance with Texas Department of Health regulations and manage all documentation required for designation assessments.
  • Attend relevant regional meetings and participate in committees focused on perinatal services and neonatal quality outcomes.

What qualifications you will need:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing with a minimum of three years of NICU experience.
  • Active registered nurse license in the state of practice; compact license holders must obtain Texas RN license within designated timeframes.
  • BLS and NRP certification as required by policy.
