Overview

We are seeking a full-time Rework Operator (1st Shift) in our Olathe, KS location. In this role, you will be responsible for working in one or more vital areas of Customer Repair to maintain Customer Unit compliance in Receiving, Shipping and Repair in addition to reworking returned or defective product by applying Engineering Change Orders and ensuring that units conform to their Bill of Materials.

Essential Functions
  • Receive product onto the Customer Repair system which includes sorting and opening customer product and receiving units into Oracle and MS Access
  • Operate standard test equipment and conduct functional, operational and environmental tests on products
  • Exchange of consumer and marine products which includes transferring customer data and corresponding with customer through typed Service Report
  • Ship product which includes weighing, packaging and boxing product and processing units into Kewill database
  • Rework and repair of Taiwan product which includes testing, board level replacement and minor component repair, performing Engineering Change Orders, packaging the units per the Bill of Material, and recording information to pass along results of testing
  • Compliance with HRD-003 (Garmin's Attendance Policy)
  • Compliance with DOT (Department of Transportation) requirements
  • Remanufacture product which includes inspecting product to determine stocking level, uploading latest software(s) to unit, and testing units to ensure functionality
  • Requires the ability to lift up to 30 pounds while using safe lifting techniques
  • Cleanliness zone area requirements: This position requires Garmin provided personal protective equipment including SD shoes (Static Dissipative Footwear) to be always worn for an entire shift to minimize the risk of electrostatic discharge (ESD) and meet specified standards
  • Evaluate equipment and processes to ensure associate safety
Basic Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • High degree of dexterity and eye coordination to allow manipulation of buttons, switches, hand tools and knobs on delicate equipment, products and parts, in the performance of essential functions
  • Strong verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills for respectful work-related communication (in person and email) with peers and associates from other departments
  • Associates operating machinery must have a mechanical aptitude with an attention to detail
  • Must possess the ability to bend, twist and lift up to 30 pounds while using safe lifting techniques, standing for an entire shift and walking long distances throughout the facility
  • Ability to sit, stand, look down, bend, twist, and have dexterity with hands for up to 10 hours
  • Must have basic computer operational skills
  • Specific vision abilities including close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus
  • Must be flexible and able to work in a fast-paced environment with the ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks
Desired Qualifications
  • Electronics training or work experience
  • 2+ years soldering experience
  • Ability to type 35 WPM
  • Ability to speak and understand foreign languages
  • Customer service and phone experience
