We are seeking a Lead Substation Protection & Control Engineer to design substation protection and control projects for electric utilities from 12kV to 500kV. This is a fantastic opportunity in the thriving power systems industry, with exposure to how renewable energy integrates into the electric grid. You will leverage your expertise in digital logic design, AC, and DC circuits to execute these essential projects.

You Will Gain Experience In:
- Collaborating with local and nationwide utility clients
- Working on diverse projects from distribution to transmission level voltages
- Performing electrical power calculations
- Interfacing with other disciplines such as civil and telecom engineering
Your Responsibilities Include:
- Designing relay one-line and three-line AC schematic drawings
- Creating DC protection schematic designs
- Developing panel layout and wiring designs
- Preparing Bills of Materials as per design criteria
- Conducting quality control checks on wiring designs
- Providing complete lifecycle support from project scoping to final implementation
- Offering construction support and ensuring adherence to safety codes
- Collaborating with designers to create necessary drawings for each project
Your Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related field with 8+ years of relevant experience in substation protection and control design.
- Proven experience in executing protection and control projects.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with teams and clients.
- Proficiency in reading and designing protection and control drawings.
- Strong problem-solving abilities in both collaborative and independent settings.
- High computer competency and willingness to travel for projects as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Engineer Intern (EI or EIT) certification or Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Experience in quality control for small protection and control design projects.
- Familiarity with CAD tools like SDS AutoCAD Electrical and experience with Bentley ProjectWise.
- Master's degree in a related field.
- Field testing and commissioning experience.
