Job Description Summary

The Senior Quality Tech is responsible for leading and performing a wide range of quality inspection and verification tasks to ensure products meet internal and customer requirements. This role supports quality, APQP, engineering efforts, mentors' junior technicians, and participates in problem-solving and continuous improvement initiatives across the organization.

Essential Duties
  • Perform advanced dimensional, visual, and functional inspections of components, assemblies, and finished goods using appropriate measuring tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers, height gages, CMMs).
  • Interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, specifications, and work instructions
  • Lead first article inspections (FAI), in-process, and final inspections; prepare related documentation such as ISIRs, PPAPs, and control plans
  • Support root cause analysis and corrective/preventative action activities (RCA, 5-Whys, Fishbone, etc.)
  • Review and update quality documents such as inspection procedures, work instructions, and checklists
  • Interface with cross-functional teams including production, product management (APQP), engineering, and supply chain to resolve quality issues.
  • Train and mentor junior quality staff and inspectors
  • Assist in audits (internal, supplier, customer, or third-party) and maintain traceability of quality records in accordance with ISO 9001 and/or other relevant processes.
  • Monitor and report on key quality metrics; escalate non-conformances and assist in disposition of nonconforming materials.
  • Operate and program automated inspection equipment where applicable (e.g., CMM, vision systems).
Competencies, Experience, and Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • 5+ years of experience in quality inspection, preferably in a manufacturing/production environment
  • ASQ Certified Quality Technician (CQT) or similar certification
  • Strong working knowledge of ISO 9001 or equivalent quality management systems
  • Proficient in blueprint reading and GD&T
  • Experience with PPAP, SPC, FMEA, and other quality tools
  • Familiarity with the principles of metrology and gage calibration
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication
