What You'll Do:

As an MDS Nursing Director, you will lead the management of Minimum Data Set (MDS) assessments which are crucial for developing personalized care plans for residents. You will also ensure compliance with state and federal regulations while capturing clinical reimbursements for the services provided.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the MDS program, ensuring compliance and accuracy in assessments.
  • Assess Patient Driven Payment Method (PDPM) and associated costs for potential admissions.
  • Monitor Case Mix Index (CMI) scores to identify risks or changes impacting reimbursement.
  • Train and mentor MDS Coordinators, providing essential support.
  • Participate in comprehensive assessments and coordinate care planning.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams for accurate data collection.
  • Educate facility staff and leaders on MDS processes.
  • Analyze assessment data to ensure compliance and optimize reimbursement strategies.
  • Encourage a culture of continuous improvement in nursing care.

What You'll Bring:

Qualifications:

  • Valid state RN license preferred.
  • Advanced degree or certification preferred.
  • Experience in direct care within a long-term care setting and/or as an MDS Coordinator is required.
  • Strong knowledge of state and federal regulations regarding MDS and billing processes.
  • Familiarity with Electronic Medical Records (EMR), PDP, MDS 3.0, Medicaid, and Medicare requirements.
  • Interest in the nursing needs of the aged and chronically ill, with the ability to work effectively with both populations.
  • Detail-oriented, deadline-driven individual with strong organization and analytical skills.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication abilities.
  • Ability to positively influence a multidisciplinary team environment.
