Position Summary:
The Medical Patient Care Advocate serves as a dedicated liaison between patients, healthcare providers, and support services to ensure a positive and seamless care experience. This role focuses on guiding patients through the healthcare process-answering questions, coordinating care, addressing concerns, and helping patients understand their treatment plans, insurance coverage, and available resources.
Essential Job Functions:
- Respond to all medication refill requests in a timely manner, checking faxes and responding to patient/pharmacy medication inquiries.
- Submit medication prior authorization in a timely and efficient manner, ensuring proper documentation in each patient record.
- Review and respond to all pharmacy and patient drug interaction and/ or drug changes requests once reviewing with the Medical Provider.
- Respond to all medical record requests in a timely manner.
- Submit records when a payment has been processed and a patient signed Release of Information has been completed.
- Comply with all company policies and procedures for risk identification and risk assessment.
- Communicate efficiently with Medical Doctors, Nurse Practitioners, and Physician assistants regarding any medication questions.
- Communicate in a positive helpful manner with all patients when updating on status of refill inquiries, prior authorizations, record requests or any other matter.
- Interact with all medical receptionists in a positive and collaborative manner.
- Covering Medical Receptionists as needed.

- Associate or bachelor's degree preferred
- Relevant medical office or pharmacy setting experience 2 years minimum.
- Prior Pharmacy experience preferred
- Prior Medical Record experience preferred
- Mental Health experience or knowledge preferred

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to do the following:
- Engages in sustained power grasping and pushing/pulling motions
- Exposure to dust, gas, odors, liquids, or fumes
- Intermittent lifting and carrying up to 40 pounds, transporting object usually by hand, arm, or shoulder
- Hand/eyecoordination: Performing work using both
- Working with hands: Seizing, holding, and grasping
- Able to lift by raising or lowering an object from one level to another
- The ability to respond quickly to emergency situations, which may involve running or moving rapidly.
- Frequent standing and walkingfor extended periods, often throughout the entire shift.
- Potential exposure to infectious diseases, bloodborne pathogens, and hazardous materials, requiring adherence to safety and PPE protocols.
