Full -time Surgical Physician Assistant - Putnam Hospital Center

The Surgical PA Service at Putnam Center is seeking to add a board-certified full-time Physician Assistant to join its team. We are a hospital-based group that offers a supportive and team-based environment with exposure to multiple surgical subspecialties. Responsibilities currently include OR coverage with expected growth of, floor rounds, post-op management and discharge of patients. This position is a great opportunity for growth with a high volume of DaVinci Robotic Surgery cases.

  • OR First Assisting- PHC surgical PA coverage is primarily OR first assisting. Specialties include but are not limited to general surgery, urology, breast, plastics and orthopedics.
  • Surgical PA's are available during the day for OR coverage with on-call night coverage and one on-call weekend per month currently for OR emergencies
  • Expectation of continued growth of the service to include floor rounding, consults and admissions
  • There is cross- coverage between PHC Surgical PA Services and Vassar Brothers Surgical PA Services in a limited capacity

    This position is for three 12-hour shifts per week with one required weekend shift per month. There is an extensive onboarding and training period as well as a supportive environment for collaboration and learning.


Qualifications
  • The qualified candidate will be a graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program and be NCCPA certified as well as possess strong surgical and patient management experience
  • Candidates with at least one to three years of surgical experience and/or surgical residency trained candidates preferred, but new graduates will be considered as will new nurse practitioners with RNF certification and surgical experience.
