The NM Department of Information Technology Enterprise Services program provides the State with the information technology fabric that enables agencies to innovate and excel in their specific domains. The goal of the program is to consolidate services previously duplicated within agencies in order to promote cost savings and efficiencies. This is accomplished through the delivery and management of cost effective and efficient information technology infrastructure services, enterprise applications, and other value-added IT services.

Why does the job exist?

To provide enterprise level VMware System Administration for DoIT's Infrastructure Services Group.
Oversee management of computing environments (cloud and on-premises) including processes and tools to secure, control and protect user identities and maintain service availability for all SoNM agencies.

How does it get done?

Responsible for the administration, configuration, installation, optimization, maintenance, ecurity
and integration of hardware and software components of the Department of nformation Technology's
(DolT) Private Cloud environment.
Deploy complex infrastructure architecture including Dell vxRail computing and EMC SAN/NAS torage
platforms.
Integrate VMware's VCF v5.x and vCloud Suite of applications to include NSX-T, VSAN, ROperations,
vRLog Insight, vRNetwork Insight and vxRail Manager.

Who are the customers?

All New Mexico state agencies participating in the SoNM Digital Workspace enterprise service.

Ideal Candidate

Has Systems Administration experience with VMware VCF (v5.0 or above), ESXi (vSphere v8.0 or above), hyper-converged server environments.

Minimum Qualification

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems (MIS), Information Technology, Engineering, or similar technical degree and three (3) years of experience in systems administration. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling seven (7) years may substitute for the required education and experience.

Employment Requirements

Must possess and maintain current ID or Driver's License. Pre-employment background investigation is required, and employment is conditional pending results.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Some travel may be required. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. This position is required to respond to New Mexico Department of Health staff, and the New Mexico Department of Health Operation Center in an event of a disaster or emergency.
