Community Service Coordinator - Housing Program Wage: $28.21/HR
Day Shift: 8.00am - 4.30pm Mon – Friday
Location: Minneapolis
Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Community Service Coordinator to join our organization. In this vital role, you will provide technical and case management and oversee the coordination and support of participants of the Housing Choice Voucher Program.
Summary
The primary purpose of this position is to provide technical and case management support to participants in the Housing Choice Voucher Program who meet the qualifications for any special subsidy/voucher program administered by the organization. The incumbent may assist participant families in completing the appropriate paperwork to obtain and/or sustain stable housing, connect them to housing search assistance, coordinate financial, legal, or other supports to maintain housing, and work with landlords through and beyond the lease-up process.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

· Develops supportive, professional relationships with participant families and empowers them to capably search for, obtain, and maintain quality homes in communities within the metropolitan area.
· Monitors participant compliance with special program guidelines. Collects and provides information about community support services that will enable self-sufficiency.
· Develops individualized actions plans to assist with sensitive or complex issues that may impede them from attaining the goal of finding and keeping stable, quality housing. Such issues may include mental or physical health, employment, education, childcare, transportation, and other barriers to self-sufficiency.
· Performs other related duties as assigned.
· Collaborates with partners in identifying and providing referrals to community resources and services to help resolve problems and achieve the objectives of the special program in which they are a participant.
· Performs all required procedures necessary to disburse any applicable financial supports.
· Researches each community and creates packets for families that include information about resources, such as neighborhood schools, transportation routes and schedules, workforce and community centers, shopping areas, crime rates, and civic activities, as well as organizations available in those communities that will address the needs of the family.
· Schedules briefing for participants who are in a housing search that will focus on fair housing information and program compliance, as well as strategies on approaching and talking with owners, selecting a suitable unit, understanding the lease agreement, and the renter’s rights and responsibilities under the lease agreement.
· Aids participants in their search for housing by connecting them to housing search resources, supporting their selection of a unit, and meeting with property owners and participants to promote understanding and advocacy for the special program in which they are a participant.
· Meets with participants as needed to connect participants with available resources.
· Plays an integral part in maintaining good owner relations and ensuring an ongoing supply of owner participants by mediating owner/participant conflicts to reach a purposeful and satisfactory conclusion.
· Coordinates the special program participant caseload and corresponding owner base, by completing rent calculations for each of the families, executing and monitoring Housing Assistance Payment Contracts with owners, and implementing relevant financial adjustments for participants and owners.
· Manages regulatory and Authority requirements. Applies and complies project specific procedures which differs from ‘standard’ fair share vouchers.
· Protects the integrity of participant and program information; keeps participant, owner, and program records and work areas well organized; and maintains historical and reference data in Yardi or any other relevant computer database.
· Manages and controls program integrity violations of the assigned participant caseload and owner base. Collaborates with staff to conduct investigations and informal hearings for possible program termination.
· Creates, uses, and maintains a system to track and measure participant and program progress, maintains comprehensive documentation, and creates required and requested reports for management assessment of the program.
· Identifies trends and participant housing outcomes through designated special program data tracking tools.

· Education and/or Experience
· Associate’s Degree in social services, public administration, or related field and a minimum of three (3) years of experience providing case management to a diverse, low-income client base. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Technical Skills· To perform this job successfully, the employee should have strong computer skills (MS Word, Excel, and Outlook). Must have the ability to learn other computer software programs as required by assigned tasks.·
