About this Job:
As a Clinical Dietitian II, you will provide comprehensive Medical Nutrition Therapy to inpatients facing various medical conditions. Your responsibilities will include conducting malnutrition assessments, performing nutrition-focused physical exams, delivering diet education, and recommending nutrition support. Your work will align with applicable laws and regulations, as well as our core values.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with physicians and allied health professionals to assess and address patients' nutritional needs and develop specific diet plans.
- Create, evaluate, and implement nutrition assessment and follow-up plans for at-risk patients per departmental policy.
- Consult with inpatient and outpatient clients on dietary management for self-care.
- Engage in clinical rounds and departmental meetings to ensure effective communication and patient care.
- Review and present relevant literature annually during Journal Club to promote continuous learning among peers.
- Present a case study at least once a year, ideally in conjunction with Journal Club discussions.
- Participate in meetings to foster professional growth and document progress in the Professional Development Plan.
- Conduct at least one formal presentation annually within your area of expertise to allied health professionals or the community.
- Contribute to the development or revision of educational materials, policies, or nutrition-related projects as authorized by your superior.
- Provide cross-coverage and relief for inpatient and outpatient services as needed.
- Maintain current credentials and licensure, completing yearly competencies as required.
- Stay active in relevant professional organizations.
- Assist with licensing surveys when required.
- Perform additional duties as assigned, ensuring that responsibilities align with the specific role.
Minimal Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Food & Nutrition Science from an accredited institution and completion of an accredited dietetic internship.
- Master's degree from an accredited institution (if completed after January 1, 2024).
Experience:
- 5-7 years of progressive clinical nutrition experience required.
- 3-4 years of progressive clinical nutrition experience combined with a major specialty certification recognized by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and/or Commission on Dietetic Registration preferred.
Licenses and Certifications:
- Registered Dietitian (RD) credential from the Commission on Dietetic Registration upon hire.
- DC Department of Health Dietetics and Nutrition License upon hire.
- Certified Nutrition Support Clinician (CNSC) or other recognized specialty certification upon hire is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Up-to-date knowledge of clinical dietetics.
- Proficient in navigating Electronic Medical Records.
- Basic word processing skills.
- Effective communicator with peers and interdisciplinary team members.
- Strong time management and multitasking abilities.
- Flexible with scheduling and tasks as needed.
- Comfortable with public speaking and presentations.
This position offers a competitive salary range of USD $72,758.00 - USD $130,041.00 per year.
