All StarZ Staffing is hiring a Diesel Mechanic for an immediate opening with a transportation company in Lakewood, WA (near Lakewood Towne Center). We're looking for someone with diesel and/or trailer repair experience to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair vehicles. This is a full time, temp to hire opportunity.

Pay for the Diesel Mechanic:

  • $41 - $45 per hour, depending on experience
  • $5k signing bonus ($2500 after a probation period & an additional $2500 after one year)
  • Relocation reimbursement available for candidates outside the Pierce/King/Thurston county area (up to $2500)
  • $500 annual tool allowance

Job Location:
  • Lakewood, WA: 5-minute drive from Lakewood Towne Center and Clover Park Technical College
  • Bus line accessible: located right next to Pierce Transit bus stops (Routes 206 & 212)
  • Convenient location near local restaurants, and more dining options nearby at Lakewood Towne Center

Schedule for the Diesel Mechanic:
  • Monday - Friday
  • Night shift

Diesel Mechanic Duties:
  • Repair and maintain natural gas, diesel, and gas vehicles and equipment
  • Repair, adjust, or replace parts for natural gas, diesel, and gasoline vehicles (including engine, transmission, drive train, lubrication, cooling, exhaust, and air or hydraulic systems)
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot problems with fuel, electrical, programmable logic controls, and mechanical systems
  • Troubleshoot, adjust and repair vehicle parts (including air-ride and steering systems, and wheelchair lifts)
  • Remove, rebuild, and replace parts (including automatic transmission)
  • Perform inspections, and preventative services for natural gas, diesel, gas vehicles
  • Enter work orders into a computer system
  • Maintain a neat and clean work area

Diesel Mechanic Qualifications:
  • 1-2 years diesel mechanic experience, diesel mechanic certification, or 2 years of diesel mechanic vocational study, or completion of a 4 year diesel mechanic apprentice program
  • 2-3 years of journey-level mechanical work
  • Experience repairing transit, bus, or over-the-road coach preferred
  • Must have basic computer skills to complete work orders
  • Valid driver's license & good driving record required for driving and operating company vehicles
  • Ability to obtain a Class B Commercial License Permit (CLP)
  • Ability to obtain a Class B Commercial Driver License (CDL) (company assistance available)
  • Must be able to work as part of a team
  • Familiarity with tools (including jacks, wrenches, grease guns, and hydraulic hoists)
  • Must be able to maintain reliable attendance
  • Must be able to lift and move up to 50 lbs
