As a Senior Software Engineer specializing in SRE/DevOps, you will play a pivotal role in a transformative journey at Capital One. Join us in merging data with cutting-edge technologies to drive change.

What You'll Do:

  • Guide a diverse portfolio of technology projects, working alongside experienced developers to craft solutions that meet regulatory requirements for the company.

  • Stay ahead of tech advancements, actively participating in tech communities and mentoring fellow engineers.

  • Partner with product managers to design and deliver robust cloud-based solutions, enhancing experiences for millions of customers seeking financial empowerment.

  • Utilize programming languages such as Java, Python, SQL, Ruby, and Go, alongside Container Orchestration services like Docker and Kubernetes, configuration management tools like Ansible and Terraform, as well as various AWS tools and services.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree.

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in DevOps engineering.

  • At least 3 years of experience with cloud native technologies (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform).

  • 4 years of experience in Unix or Linux system administration.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • AWS certifications (Cloud Practitioner, Solutions Architect, SysOps Administrator).

  • 7+ years of experience in DevOps engineering.

  • 4+ years with coding and scripting languages (Python, SQL, Java, JavaScript, Golang, Bash, Perl, Ruby).

  • 4+ years with technologies like Apache Mesos, Marathon, or Apache Spark.

  • 4+ years using build and deployment tools (Jenkins, Docker).

  • 2+ years with distributed database systems (Cassandra, ElasticSearch).

  • 2+ years of experience with performance monitoring tools (New Relic, Splunk).

  • 2+ years deploying clustered web services.

  • 2+ years of experience in Agile development practices.

This role is based in McLean, VA, with a salary range of $193,400 - $220,700 for Lead Software Engineer. Candidates hired in other locations will have salaries reflective of their respective area.
