  • JOB SUMMARY
    • Manages delivery of health care services to accomplish diagnosis and treatment. Exercises professional judgment in performance of duties and maintains a demeanor complimentary to medical ethics. Monitor clinical laboratory operations to assure compliance with governmental regulations and meets standards established by accrediting agencies.

      May serve in the following CLIA roles for the Laboratories throughout the Health System:
      • Technical Supervisor
      • General Supervisor
  • DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
    • Overall performance rating of below indicated essential job duties:
    • Responsible for the overall direction, coordination and evaluation of the laboratory Hematology department
    • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organizations policies and applicable laws and is responsible for managing subordinates. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training team members, planning, scheduling, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining teams members; addressing complaints and resolving problems
    • Attends all customer relations meetings, guaranteed patient satisfaction and mandatory training programs
    • Serves as an administrative liaison and represents the department regarding institutional meetings, activities, external agencies and organizations
    • Reports on departmental progress, budget variances, productivity, objectives and operational issues. Regularly meeting with Core Laboratory Services Manager to discuss laboratory services and operations.
    • Maintains compliance with CAP (College of American Pathologists)
    • Completes monthly QA audits and reporting as required by CAP regulations.
  • EDUCATION/LICENSE/ CERTIFICATIONS/OTHER REQUIREMENTS
    • Minimum requirement:
      • Bachelor of Science degree or higher, 2 years of training and experience in high-complexity testing in Hematology and ASCP certification or equivalent.
    • Preferred qualifications:
      • 3 or more years of laboratory experience
  • WORKING ENVIRONMENT
    • Operates in a professional medical laboratory and office environments
    • Regularly works near moving mechanical parts
    • Regularly exposed toblood and/or body fluids and
    • Occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals
    • Occasionally exposed to risk of radiation
    • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • PHYSICAL DEMANDS
    • Occasionally required to maintain a stationary position (standing or sitting).
    • Frequently required to walk and move about.
    • Frequently required to operate a computer and other equipment.
    • Frequently required to use fine motor skills to handle and operate instruments/devices.
    • Regularly required to communicate with patients and other care team requiring talking and hearing.
    • Constantly required to lift and/or move items up to 10 pounds.
    • Frequently required to lift and/or move items up to 25 pounds.
    • Occasionally required to lift and/or move items up to 50 pounds.
    • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
