Sports Coach and Mentor

The FCA Coach is a dual-role leader, combining sports coaching with spiritual mentorship. This position is vital in guiding athletes in their respective sports while helping them grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ and His church. The Coach exemplifies FCA's values of Integrity, Serving, Teamwork, and Excellence, focusing on developing athletes on the field, cultivating character off the field, and fostering a Christ-centered team culture.

MINISTERIAL DUTIES

• Agree with and abide by FCA's Christian Community Statement.
• Engage in daily prayer and Bible study to seek God's will for FCA.
• Provide spiritual leadership for staff, volunteers, coaches, and athletes through prayer, Bible study, worship, and by living as an example.
• Connect with and actively participate in a local church through worship and weekly involvement.
• Act in accordance with biblical standards of conduct as per FCA's Christian beliefs at all times.

MINISTRY ADVANCEMENT

• Leverage sports as a platform to disciple athletes, fostering their growth as competitors and followers of Christ.
• Organize and facilitate team Huddles, one-on-one mentoring sessions, and FCA ministry events.
• Integrate spiritual and character development into all team activities, including practices, games, and meetings.

TALENT ADVANCEMENT

• Recruit, train, and develop volunteers to align with ministry growth goals within the Club.
• Mentor assistant coaches, volunteers, and athletes to empower them to become leaders who disciple others.
• Develop athletes not only in their sport but also in leadership, teamwork, and perseverance.
• Engage in personal and professional development through coaching education and ongoing growth within the FCA community.

GAME & PLAYER DEVELOPMENT

• Design and conduct age-appropriate training sessions emphasizing technical, tactical, and spiritual growth.
• Coach during games while making choices that reflect FCA's core values and mission.
• Ensure all athletes receive equal respect, encouragement, and fair treatment.

COMMUNICATION & ADMINISTRATION

• Maintain clear communication with athletes, parents, and FCA leadership regarding schedules, expectations, and updates.
• Manage team logistics, equipment, and facility use with accountability and excellence.
• Meet governing body qualifications and certifications necessary for coaching within the assigned league or program.
• Support FCA leadership through participation in organizational training, ministry development, and community engagement.

COMPETENCIES
