Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Labor and Delivery Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience License: Active RN license required Certifications: BLS, NRP, Stable, AWHONN Intermediate fetal monitoring Must-Have: Labor and Delivery experience Intermediate fetal monitoring experience Description: The position is for a Registered Nurse specializing in Labor and Delivery. This unit has 20 labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum beds and 5 OB assessment beds. The patient-to-nurse ratios are 1: 3-4 couplets, 1:1 for all active labors, VBACs, and laboring patients on magnesium sulfate and insulin. For triage, early labor, and cervical ripening, the ratios are 1:1-2. Unit staffing includes a unit secretary on weekdays and a PCT during specific hours. Scrub techs are available 24/7. Equipment includes GE fetal monitors and Novii devices. The documentation system used in this unit is CPN and Meditech. Use of Timpani scheduling is required with a focus on preferences. There is no floating to other units. Bedside shift reports are mandatory every shift. Candidates must have experience with couplet care and circulating in the operating room. Procedures performed include vaginal deliveries, versions, cesarean sections, epidurals, postpartum tubal ligations, cerclage removal, and circumcisions. This unit was recognized as a unit of distinction in 2021. The focus is on improving nurse workload and enhancing overall patient experience and outcomes.
