We are looking for a motivated Software Development Engineer II skilled in C/C++ and Java. In this role, you will contribute to the development of high-performance applications and engage in all phases of the software development lifecycle while working onsite at our Tewksbury, Massachusetts facility as part of the Zumwalt Software Development Team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain sophisticated software applications using C/C++ and Java.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and implement innovative features, ensuring system integration and scalability.
• Troubleshoot and optimize existing code for enhanced performance and efficiency in complex environments.
• Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for software applications, including system architecture and design specifications.
• Develop tools for deploying software to various lab and customer environments.
• Establish automation pipelines to facilitate the integration of software releases and automate configuration management.
• Participate in code reviews and advocate for adherence to coding standards and best practices.
• Stay informed about the latest industry trends and advancements in C/C++ and Java, particularly in relation to complex systems and continuous delivery.
• This position requires a dedicated onsite presence.

Basic Qualifications:

• A bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
• Proficiency in developing complex systems and applications using C/C++ and Java or other object-oriented programming languages.
• Familiarity with Unix/Linux operating systems.
• Active and transferable U.S. government issued Secret security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and software design principles, especially in high-concurrency and distributed systems.
• Experience with embedded systems, real-time systems, or large-scale applications.
• Expertise in multithreading, memory management, and performance optimization.
• Familiarity with network communication protocols, shell scripting (tcsh, csh, bash), and tools like Git/Clearcase.
• Adept problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
• Proven experience developing automation pipelines using tools such as Jenkins and Git.
• Knowledge of scripting languages such as Python or Bash.
• Familiarity with software development methodologies (Agile, Scrum, etc.).

The salary range for this position is between $66,000 and $130,000. This range reflects a good faith estimate for various experience levels and factors such as role responsibilities and location.
