Assistant Plant Manager

A large, well-established feed company is seeking an Assistant Plant Manager for one of its Minnesota operations. This opportunity is confidential and is open only due to an internal promotion, highlighting the company’s strong culture of advancement and leadership development.
This role is ideal for someone who wants to grow into a Plant Manager position. The company is intentionally hiring with succession in mind and will train and develop this individual to lead a plant of their own in the future.
The Opportunity
The Assistant Plant Manager will work closely with the Plant Manager to support daily operations, production, and team leadership while gaining hands-on experience across all aspects of plant management. This is a high-visibility role within a company known for investing in its people.
Key Responsibilities
- Support daily plant operations, including production, safety, quality, and maintenance
- Assist with scheduling, production planning, and performance tracking
- Help lead, coach, and develop supervisors and hourly employees
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to increase efficiency and throughput
- Step into leadership responsibilities as needed and prepare for future plant leadership
- Experience in feed manufacturing, grain handling, or related agricultural manufacturing
- Prior supervisory or leadership experience in a manufacturing environment
- Strong desire to grow into a Plant Manager role
- Solid communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Comfortable working in a hands-on, production-driven environment
- Base salary: $80,000-$100,000, depending on experience
