The H&S Family of Bakeries are a network of 10 bakeries and multiple distribution centers along the East Coast, all committed to one thing: producing the best quality bread products possible. H&S Family of Bakeries includes Northeast Foods, H&S Bakery and Schmidt Baking Co. Together, our baked goods can be found in a wide range of establishments, from fast food and quick-service restaurants to cafeterias, hospitals, grocery stores and universities.
As the Production Manager, you'll lead daily operations, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and drive continuous improvement to ensure quality, efficiency and innovation.
In this role you will:
- Collaborate with Production Supervisors to address and resolve any operational challenges. Communicate any upcoming process changes to relevant teams.
- Review documentation provided by supervisors, assessing the need for corrective actions to address any issues.
- Conduct regular walkthroughs of the entire production floor, meticulously recording essential data on appropriate forms.
- Effectively manage employee concerns or problems, ensuring that all employee injuries are thoroughly documented as required.
- Monitor and ensure that employees are performing their assigned tasks diligently, encompassing quality checks, dough schedule adherence, product temperature monitoring, maintaining cleanliness, and following safety protocols.
- Engage in daily meetings with other managers to discuss strategies aimed at improving plant efficiency.
- Promptly communicate any significant issues to the appropriate manager.
- Maintain a safe working environment for all employees and contractors.
- Promote and enforce safety practices across all operational areas.
- Uphold a clean and hygienic work environment.
- Strictly adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) at all times.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience as a Production Supervisor in Bread and Rolls AND/OR baked goods manufacturing.
- High school diploma required, bachelor's degree a plus.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- The ability to work independently and as a team player in a fast-paced environment with an emphasis on accuracy and timeliness.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Strong conflict resolution skills.
Essential Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, and push and pull heavy wheeled equipment or carts in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Ability to stand and/or walk for extended periods of time during a shift, maintaining a normal range of motion in all extremities.
- Ability to reach, bend, stoop, and crouch to access equipment, tools, or materials.
- Ability to use arms, hands and fingers to handle or operate machinery, tools or controls.
- Ability to perceive and respond immediately to visual and audible safety alerts and warnings to ensure the safety of self and others in a fast-paced, hazard-sensitive environment with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Ability to work in environments with varying temperatures, noise levels, and airborne particles, odors and fumes.
- Ability to climb stairs, ladders, or work platforms as required by the position.
- Ability to sit for prolonged periods using office equipment and computer systems.
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and protective clothing for extended periods of time, with or without reasonable accommodation.
