Lead Data Quality Assurance Engineer

In this role, you will take charge of QA processes for critical projects, from customer-facing applications to backend systems and extensive data workflows. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to develop scalable QA strategies, oversee their implementation, and ensure adherence to best practices throughout the organization.

The ideal candidate will possess a robust background in quality assurance, demonstrating extensive hands-on experience in data validation, test automation, and contemporary QA practices across APIs, data pipelines, and web applications. You will define and execute thorough test plans while helping shape our approach to maintaining data and system quality at scale.

• Design and manage data QA processes, including test documentation, incident tracking, and quality metrics and dashboards.
• Create end-to-end test strategies for data pipelines, ETL/ELT processes, data warehouses, and reporting systems.
• Develop automated data validation frameworks for accuracy, consistency, and reliability of large-scale datasets.
• Create and maintain data quality checks, test plans, and monitoring solutions for both structured and semi-structured data sources.
• Lead QA initiatives in data-centric projects while collaborating with Data Engineering, Engineering, Analytics, and Project Management teams.
• Develop SQL and script-based test suites to validate data transformations, business logic, and aggregation rules.
• Support analytics, BI, and reporting platforms by validating data integrity, lineage, and metric correctness.
• Proactively identify and resolve data quality issues through detailed root cause analysis and stakeholder coordination.
• Integrate automated data tests into CI/CD workflows for continuous data validation and rapid releases.
• Establish QA best practices in the data domain and mentor fellow QA team members on data validation techniques and automation strategies.

• 7+ years of experience in QA.
• 4+ years as a Data QA Engineer/Data QA Analyst.
• Thorough understanding of QA processes, test design techniques, and industry standards.
• Strong expertise in scripting languages such as JavaScript and Python.
• Proven ability to design, build, and scale Data QA processes.
• Experience with standard QA and project management tools such as TestRail, Jira, and Confluence.
• Knowledge of white/grey box testing methodologies.
• Comfortable building and supporting production-grade ETL and data pipelines.
• Build and maintain data quality automation frameworks using SQL, JavaScript/Python, or test platforms like DBT tests and Apache Airflow validations.
• Solid understanding of data governance concepts and experience with related tools and platforms.
• Familiarity with cloud infrastructure (preferably AWS), CI/CD workflows, and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).

• Ability to lead Data QA projects spanning both applications and data-focused initiatives.
• Excellent communication skills, facilitating collaboration between technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Demonstrated experience mentoring QA analysts and engineers while promoting a positive QA culture.
• Proven experience in fast-paced startup or scaling environments.
• Prior work in healthcare, life sciences, or regulated data settings is a plus.

• Experience in building or supporting administrative tools and internal platforms.
• Familiarity with data observability, schema governance, or data lineage tools.
• Exposure to machine learning pipelines, business intelligence tools, or product instrumentation.
• Knowledge of mobile development frameworks like React Native or Capacitor.
