This direct hire opportunity in Lynchburg, VA, will place you at the heart of the procurement department, where you will provide essential support to manufacturing, production control, sales, and engineering teams. Position: Procurement Specialist

Location: Lynchburg, VA

Compensation: $65,000 - $75,000 per year

Shift: Day shift

Key Responsibilities:

  • Generate and distribute purchase orders for machined and casted components, ensuring efficient processing and on-time delivery.
  • Track purchase order status, adapt delivery timelines as required, and expedite or de-expedite orders to align with evolving needs.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact between suppliers and the organization, providing invaluable support and resolving procurement-related issues.
  • Assess usage history, current needs, BOMs, and pricing to determine optimal purchase quantities and optimize costs.
  • Ensure receipt of purchase order confirmations, manage the handling of non-conforming parts, and collaborate with suppliers to address any deviations and capacity constraints.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a business or technical field; commitment to pursuing a related degree within 6 months of employment is acceptable.
  • At least 1 year of experience in purchasing and/or sourcing for machined and/or casted components.
  • Technical skills to interpret drawings and familiarity with ERP systems are required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is essential.
  • Knowledge of inventory management, manufacturing, engineering, and financial systems; APICS or SCM certification is a plus.
