Major Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and maintain a sterile operating environment by utilizing aseptic techniques.
  • Assist in surgical procedures by anticipating surgeon's needs, passing instruments, and maintaining a sterile field.
  • Ensure the operating room is organized and ready for each case, including moving and setting up equipment.
  • Function effectively as a second assistant when necessary.
  • Communicate promptly about any equipment or supply issues.
  • Transport patients and manage equipment efficiently and safely.
  • Stay updated on the principles of patient care and safety across various age groups.

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification by the American Heart Association is required within 6 months of hire.

Education and Experience:

  • Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program is required.
  • No previous experience is required for this entry-level position.

Skills Required:

  • Understanding of aseptic techniques and equipment used in the operating room.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Basic proficiency in computer usage.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to thrive in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment.
  • Physical capability to lift, carry, and transfer patients while adhering to proper techniques.
  • Required to wear personal protective equipment and be aware of potential hazards in the operating room.
