ICU Registered Nurse Job Details

• Location: Fairfax, VANorthern Virginia healthcare jobs)
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks (Start:– End:
• Clinical Setting: ICU & PCU/Telemetrysplit)
• Shift: 12-hour days (7a-7p)
• Hours per Week: 36 guaranteed
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $1,750 - $1,870 per week
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Holiday Requirement: 1 major, 1 minor
• Dress Code: Navy blue scrubs
• Orientation: 2-3 shifts with a preceptor

ICU RN Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (Virginia or compact state)
• Minimum 2 years of recent ICU and PCU/Telemetry nursing experience
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), and NIHSS certifications required
• Experience caring for stroke patients and using NIHSS protocols
• Proficient in reading and interpreting cardiac rhythms
• Charge nurse and precepting experience strongly preferred
• Epic EMR experience preferred

ICU RN Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality patient care in both ICU and PCU/Telemetry units
• Float between ICU and PCU/Tele as needed (travel nurses float first)
• Manage patients with diagnoses such as CHF, stroke, sepsis, cardiac dysrhythmias, pneumonia, diabetes, and respiratory conditions
• Care for patients requiring high flow oxygen, ventilators, sedation drips, vasoactive drips, and stroke protocols (including thrombolytics)
• Titrate drips including vasopressors, antihypertensives, amiodarone, Cardizem, insulin, and heparin
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams and respond to inpatient MSETS and Rapid Response calls
• Participate in unit orientation and ongoing clinical education
