About This Position:
We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Certified Respiratory Care Specialist who is passionate about providing exceptional respiratory care to a diverse patient population. In this role, you will utilize your expertise to ensure the highest standards of respiratory therapy are delivered in accordance with physician orders and established protocols.
Key Responsibilities:
- Contribute to department goals while adhering to policies, quality standards, and safety regulations.
- Assess various dimensions of patients, including physical, psychosocial, and educational needs, and document findings accurately.
- Perform a wide range of respiratory therapy treatments, ensuring proper operation and monitoring of equipment such as ventilators, oxygen therapy, and blood gas analysis.
- Utilize effective communication and problem-solving techniques to provide compassionate patient care.
- Regularly review electronic medical records and physician orders to ensure that patient needs are met.
- Participate in cardiopulmonary resuscitation efforts, ensuring patient airway management and ventilation support.
- Facilitate operational efficiency by monitoring departmental processes and suggesting improvements.
- Fulfill additional duties as assigned that align with the responsibilities of this role.
- Adhere to all organizational policies and effectively utilize resources.
- Refer to competency validation documents relevant to the population served.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Education:
- Associate's degree from an AMA accredited respiratory care program required.
- Bachelor's degree in a related healthcare field preferred.
- Experience: Less than 1 year of acute care experience. Registry eligibility is required.
- Licenses and Certifications:
- Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner in Maryland and/or the District of Columbia required.
- Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) required.
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) from the NBRC preferred.
- Current CPR certification (including BLS and NRP) required within 90 days of hire.
- Other certifications such as ACLS may be required within one year based on departmental needs.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Proficient understanding of human respiratory anatomy, physiology, and pathology in the context of respiratory care.
- Ability to operate respiratory care equipment effectively within a clinical setting.
- Strong assessment skills to identify hazardous conditions and take appropriate action.
- Capacity to work with patients across all age groups, from neonates to geriatrics.
- Ability to maintain composure and professionalism in high-stress situations.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills to interact positively with diverse populations.
This position offers a competitive hiring range of $35.68 - $64.71 per hour.
