Work schedule : Monday through Friday 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and may include overtime, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Performs skilled crafts and trades work in the installation, maintenance, and repair of plumbing systems, fixtures, and accessories. May supervise subordinate staff.

Job Description:

Repairs, services, or replaces air conditioning, refrigeration, and heating units. Replaces compressors, motors, heat pumps, and electric heat strips; adjusts worn or broken parts. Repairs and maintains air compressors for pneumatic operated systems used with thermostats to control components for heating and cooling. Install air conditioning and heating systems. Performs preventive maintenance on air conditioning, refrigeration and heating systems and associated parts.
Repair and/or replace refrigerators, ice machines, water pumps, electric motors, and sump pumps. Repairs
dehumidifiers, exhaust fans, chilled water coolers and food freezers.
ssists in installation of new air conditioning, refrigeration, and heating vents.
Replaces and installs wiring, as needed. Replaces filters, grease bearings, and oil motors.
ssists supervisors in planning modification and new installation projects, in preparation of specifications. And in major overhauling and reconditioning jobs.
Maintains job records.
May be required to assist in any type of facilities maintenance and craft work at any County owned or rented facility.
Performs related work as required.

REQUIREMENTS:
Job Education and Experience:
Three (3) years of experience as an air conditioning mechanic.
dditional qualifying education and/or experience which provides the necessary knowledge, skills and
bilities may be substituted one for the other on a year for year basis. Must possess, or obtain prior to employment, a valid Florida Driver's license and maintain said license during the term of employment. Must be able to successfully pass a Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) background check administered by the Brevard County Sheriff's Office. In the event of a hurricane, major storm, natural or man-made disaster that may threaten the area, the employee will be required to perform emergency duties as directed.

Knowledge, skills, and Abilities:
Thorough knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the work.
Thorough knowledge of the practices, methods, materials, and tools commonly utilized in the repair and
service of refrigeration, air conditioning and heating equipment.
Good knowledge of the mechanical and electrical operation, repair, and installation of air conditioning,
refrigerating and heating equipment.
Skill in the care and use of tools and equipment of the trade.
